Who we are
The Church in Palmi belongs to the wonderful work God started in Calabria, a southern region of Italy, in the fifties. At that time, God used an extraordinary servant of His, sister Grazia Maria Morabito, to shine the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ in such a hard land.

Sister Grazia Morabito, one of the only two women pastors in the Assemblies of God in Italy, carried out a powerful ministry, evangelizing and starting new churches. The work of this woman of God, also characterized by a deep prophetic mark, continued until 1980, when she was called to the Father’s house. After her death, one of her fellow workers, the young Salvatore Mauro, took her holy legacy.

Since then, pastor Mauro, together with a small group of young people, kept on fighting with prayers, intercessions, tears, watching and fasting, preaching God’s Word everywhere, getting a rich harvest in the field of the Lord. He held on to God’s promises in faith, and always kept the torch of the Gospel up high.

God’s work hasn’t stopped today, but it supernaturally grows and goes on. Of course, human abilities, persuasive words and efforts of the flesh have no part in all this. Heaven answers those who bow their knees , with a thirsty soul for God. Only persevering prayer, inspired and led by the Holy Spirit, which bends in deep intercession and carries God’s burden in itself, will get hold of God’s promises; it will open a gate for a powerful outpouring, will cause spiritual newborns, will make the powers of evil tremble, and will transform us into the glorious image of our beloved Jesus.

This is the spiritual principle at the basis of the Church in Palmi and of her fellow Churches, led by Senior Pastor Salvatore Mauro and his Assistant Pastors: intimacy with God. This is the very first priority.

Our Mission
Our desire is to carry out the Great Commission, by the power of the Holy Spirit, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost. We spread the message of eternal salvation with passion and by different means:

• Street outreach;

• Outreach demonstrations in public squares and structures;

• Outreach campaigns, carried out under our tent “Gesù è il Signore” (Jesus is Lord);

• Our Christian radio “Pienezza di Vita” (Abounding Life);

• “Il mio amico Jonathan” (“My Friend Jonathan”), a children’s ministry, which works in hospitals, orphanages, schools, squares and houses.

We also feel the urgency of offering humanitarian aid to all those who live in poverty, in blight or in social neglect. These are the means we use to do that:

• “Mani Aperte” (Open Hands), our first help centre where provisions, clothes and shoes are given on Saturdays;

• “Missione lavoratori stagionali” (Seasonal labor Mission), which takes care of immigrants who are hired hands, bringing them all kinds of supply. These people almost always live under the poverty line and suffer all sorts of mistreatment;

• “Visite negli Ospedali” (Visits in Hospitals), where we bring help as volunteers in different wards.

These humanitarian missions can then be an extraordinary launch pad to introduce the message of the Gospel of Jesus.

Besides, our ministry has always had a missionary heart since its very beginning. This is why we have always tried to reach different nations with mission trips, aimed at supporting local churches, preaching the Gospel and bringing humanitarian aid.

Building up the Body of Christ
We have always felt a pressure from Above for blessing believers from other spiritual ministries with all our hearts. Lately, there have been two appointments which are especially becoming a wonderful instrument of edification for the other Italian Churches.

The first appointment is an annual conference which usually takes place during Easter holidays. This meeting of churches represents a holy convocation. There’s an awareness that the Almighty God has gathered us. During the conference, there is an all-consuming desire to meet with the Lord Jesus, seeking His face and longing only for His glory to be manifested. That’s why, in the conference program, in addition to morning intercession prayers, an afternoon prayer session has been added. That’s amazing! The Holy Spirit blows! The flame of God burns! Christ is lifted up! The preaching is anointed and aimed at instilling a longing for knowing God in a more real and intimate way, to receive a vision of His consuming holiness, in order to be “burning torches” of purity, zeal, ready for the coming of our Lord Jesus.

The second appointment is our summer camp, which is divided in turns, for different age groups. Each turn is distinguished by a manifestation of God’s glory. Oh, how many testimonies of lives changed by the love of God, of baptisms with the Holy Spirit, of divine visions, of deep experiences in real prayer, of final addiction to Christ Jesus! Of course, the secret of such a divine manifestation has always been the same: “PRAYER, PRAYER, PRAYER!”. In the spiritual work we carry on our knees, there is struggle, labor, intercession. Sometimes, the burden that weighs on our shoulders is almost unbearable. But the Holy Spirit has always come to help us in our weakness, with His groans and with His anointing that breaks the yoke, and Jesus, only Jesus, is always magnified.

The Choir of Palmi
Another instrument, which has become a great blessing for the body of Christ, is the worship team. It officially started on 5th July 1998, after a strong spiritual revival that took place among the youth group of the Church in Palmi. Since then, the group now known as “Corale di Palmi” leads praise and worship not only at church, but also in other kinds of meeting, conferences, and similar events. The Choir of Palmi is, most of all, known for its vision: worshipping in spirit and in truth must arise from a pure heart, that has as its priority a life of intimate fellowship with God.

Another feature of the choir, is that it performs songs in Hebrew, too. This derives from the love all this ministry has for Israel, having realized God’s eternal plan for His people, a plan that is clearly exposed by the Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Romans, from chapter 9 to 11. The Lord Jesus is coming back; God is about to fulfill His work of grace among the Gentiles and, in a short time, all Israel will be saved. And during this time, that is rapidly running towards the fulfillment of all biblical prophecies and that the world is opposing to, believers have to support the people of Israel, and, most of all, stand in the gap and struggle in the spirit on its behalf, with a passion that comes from God’s heart.
